Mark Donaldson was born and raised in Southern California. He received a bachelor’s degree from the university of California at Santa Barbara in 1982. Moving to the Caribbean and living in Puerto Rico since 1986, has been a major influence in Mark's art. The bright sun, colorful architecture, and local beach culture, are favored in his paintings. The artist works from his studio on the edge of the Caribbean national forest, near the beach communities of Loquillo. Mark also paints on location around the island.
